Wierzynek is not just a restaurant....
The royal heritage, the uniqueness of the interiors transporting guests back to distant eras of history, the abundance of natural Polish ingredients and the artistry of the chefs – all this makes Wierzynek famous as an ideal venue for all kinds of meetings.
Every day, the chefs ensure that dishes composed of aromatic and refined meats, fresh fish, traditional side dishes or forest mushrooms enable our guests to enjoy the unique culinary experience of Old Polish cuisine.
The royal legacy
The legend of Wierzynek Restaurant dates back to 1364, when, at the request of King Casimir the Great, the Cracovian merchant Mikołaj Wierzynek became the host of the most famous feast in the history of Poland, held on the occasion of the king’s granddaughter’s wedding to Emperor Charles IV of Luxembourg. This magnificent feast was attended by lords and mighty from all over Europe, including King Louis of Hungary, King Valdemar IV of Denmark and King Peter of Cyprus. According to legend, the tables were overflowing with food and drink, and each guest was presented with gold and silver tableware. The most eminent chroniclers of the era acknowledged that the artistry and abundance of the food, the hospitality and generosity of the host and the joy of the revelers knew no moderation. We cultivate this tradition of celebrating food and royal service to this day, inviting guests to the magical thresholds of the Wierzynek Restaurant.
The legend of Wierzynek continues to this day, and by visiting our restaurant and feasting together, everyone can become part of it!
All of our halls are decorated with works of art from different eras and works by prominent Polish artists. The staff at Wierzynek Restaurant will be happy to show you around all the halls and tell you the details of these wonderful exhibits. At Wierzynek Restaurant you can not only experience a culinary adventure, but also feel the spirit of history.
